The DEWALT 20V MAX Cordless Reciprocating Saw Kit (DCS380P1) is built to handle demolition, pruning, and remodeling work without dragging an extension cord. Its variable speed trigger delivers up to 3,000 strokes per minute, and the 1-1/8-inch stroke makes quick work of wood, metal, and nail-embedded lumber.
Match the speed to the material with the variable speed trigger, and keep a comfortable grip thanks to the rubber overmold. The 4-position blade clamp lets you orient the blade for flush cuts and increased access. The pivoting shoe adjusts to control depth and helps extend blade life.
Changing blades takes seconds with the keyless lever-action clamp. If the blade clamp ever feels stuck, clear away sawdust and debris with compressed air, apply a dry lubricant, and work the lever several times. Avoid forcing it—most jams are caused by packed sawdust.
Vibration is often a sign of a dull or bent blade. Replace the blade if it's worn, make sure it's fully seated, and tighten the pivoting shoe. A fresh, sharp blade will cut smoother and reduce stress on the saw and your hands.
This kit includes the DCS380P1 saw, one 20V MAX battery, charger, and a gigante carrying bag. The battery and charger let you put the saw to work right out of the box.

Wood fibers and roofing grit can build up in the blade clamp. After heavy use, pop the blade out and blow out the clamp with compressed air. A thin coat of dry PTFE lubricant keeps the lever action smooth and prevents rust.
Match the blade to the material: fine-tooth blades for metal, coarse-tooth blades for wood, and specialty blades for materials like plastic or nail-embedded wood. A sharp blade cuts faster and reduces vibration dramatically.
Start cuts slowly at low speed, then increase once the blade is into the material. Let the saw's weight do the cutting—pushing hard only increases vibration and blade wear. Use the pivoting shoe to maintain control on uneven surfaces.
Remove the battery and clean the clamp area with compressed air or a brush. Apply a light coat of dry lubricant, then gently work the lever back and forth. If it still doesn't move, contact a service center for inspection.
A dull or bent blade is the most common cause. Replace the blade, make sure it's fully seated in the clamp, and adjust the pivoting shoe so it's firmly against the work surface. Loose shoe can also increase vibration.
Yes, with a wood-cutting blade, the DCS380P1 is excellent for pruning and yard work. The variable speed trigger lets you start slowly and increase speed as needed.
Use the 4-position blade clamp to orient the blade in one of the flush-cutting positions. Place the flat part of the shoe against the surface and cut along it.

Cuts through everything.
I used it to cut some tree limbs and old pipes. It handled them easily. The battery lasted longer than I expected.
I'm a contractor and I've used many reciprocating saws. This one is lightweight and has plenty of power. The variable speed trigger gives good control. The tool-free blade change is convenient. The battery charges fast. I've used it all day and it still has juice. Very impressed.
I'm 23, a recent graduate, and just bought my first house. This saw made cutting through old fence boards a breeze. It shakes a bit, but that's expected. Overall, really happy.
After 50 years of working with tools, I know a good saw. This one is solid and cuts well. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the blade clamp could be a bit easier to use, but with arthritic hands, many things are hard. It's a fine tool.
I'm 52 and I bought this for my husband who does occasional repairs. He says it works fine, but he expected more power for cutting through thick wood. The battery is heavy. It's okay for light jobs.
