This heater is sized for the gap between small salamanders and huge tow-behind units. At 80,000 BTU it handles roughly 2,000 square feet when the space is well ventilated and moderately insulated. If you're heating a two-car garage or a small workshop, you might be fine with a smaller unit, but for open barns and construction spaces, this output keeps the chill off.
