DEWALT DCH293B 20V MAX XR brushless SDS Plus rotary hammer delivers 3.5 J impact energy with E-Clutch and SHOCKS vibration control for heavy concrete drilling.
Categories : tools
SKU : WOR-TOO-525
The DEWALT DCH293B 20V MAX XR brushless 1-1/8-inch SDS Plus rotary hammer puts real breaking power in a cordless package. Its German-engineered mechanism delivers 3.5 joules of impact energy, enough for large-diameter holes in concrete and masonry. This is the tool for contractors and serious remodelers who need all-day performance without dragging a cord.
At the core of this rotary hammer is DEWALT's brushless motor, which runs longer per charge and needs less maintenance than brushed designs. SHOCKS Active Vibration Control reduces the vibration you feel at the handles, so your hands stay comfortable during extended drilling. And E-Clutch gives you extra control if the bit binds, cutting power to the rotation quickly to reduce kickback.
This is a tool-only unit, so it does not include a battery or charger. It runs on any DEWALT 20V MAX battery—from compact 2Ah packs to high-capacity 6Ah/8Ah batteries—and charges with any DEWALT 20V MAX charger. Pair it with your existing DeWalt system or pick up a compatible battery and charger kit to get started.
Use the DEWALT D25304DH dust extractor attachment to keep silica dust out of the air and stay cleaner while you work. The DCH293B is dust-management-ready, so you can attach a dust collection system without extra adapters.
3.5 J impact energy: drills large holes in concrete and masonry with corded-like power.
Brushless motor: longer runtime and durability on 20V MAX batteries.
SHOCKS Active Vibration Control: reduces hand fatigue during all-day use.
E-Clutch: cuts rotation on bind-up to help you stay in control.
Dust-management ready: works with D25304DH attachment for cleaner jobsites.

Large masonry drilling jobs used to mean hauling a corded rotary hammer and a generator. The DCH293B changes that with 3.5 J of impact energy and a brushless motor that stretches every amp-hour from your battery.
Use a 5Ah or higher battery for maximum runtime. Pair it with your existing DEWALT 20V system, and keep a spare on the charger. The tool’s brushless motor is efficient enough that many crews run two batteries in rotation.
SHOCKS Active Vibration Control absorbs vibration before it reaches your hands, and E-Clutch helps you keep a firm grip in bind-up situations. Together, they make long overhead and horizontal drilling less tiring.
Add the D25304DH dust extractor to capture debris at the source. Less cleanup and better visibility mean faster, cleaner drilling.
All DEWALT 20V MAX batteries, including 1.5Ah through 8Ah, work with the DCH293B. Battery and charger are not included, so be sure to use one from your 20V MAX system.
Any DEWALT 20V MAX charger (like DCB112, DCB115, DCB118) will charge the compatible 20V MAX batteries used by this tool.
Yes, it has DEWALT's E-Clutch system, which helps reduce rotation if the bit binds.
Yes, the DCH293B is dust management ready and works with the DEWALT D25304DH dust extractor attachment.
It's rated for up to 1-1/8-inch (28 mm) diameter holes in concrete with SDS Plus bits.

Puts holes in concrete fast.
This thing is a beast. Drilled 30 holes in 12-inch slab and barely got warm.
I'm a carpenter and I used this to run anchor bolts. It's lighter than the corded hammer I had. The SHOCKS thing actually works, my arm doesn't fall asleep anymore. Battery life is decent with a 5Ah. I wish it came with a side handle that locks tighter. Overall it's my go-to now.
I've been in construction since the 80s and I've swung my share of rotary hammers. This cordless one surprised me. The impact energy is close to my corded Hilti of old. The E-Clutch has saved me twice when it bound up in rebar. Battery consumption is high, so keep a spare 6Ah handy. It's expensive, but safety features justify it.
Great power, but the dust shroud is a joke. Works fine without it.
Does what it says. Drilled 1/2 inch holes with a 6Ah battery all day.
Right out of the box it wouldn't spin. Sent it back and got a replacement that works fine. Not sure if it's a QC issue.
I debated between this and the Bosch. I went with DeWalt because of the battery system. The hammer is strong, and the vibration control makes a real difference on long jobs. My only complaint is the chuck wears out bits a little faster than expected. But it's built solid and the brushless motor is quiet. I'd recommend it to anyone who already owns 20V tools.
Heavy but worth it.
The electronic clutch works great. Saved me from a twisted wrist.
I'm a DIYer and I rented a rotary hammer for a concrete slab. This was cheaper in the long run and now I have it. It drilled through 20-year-old concrete with 4000 psi mix like butter. The vibration control is superb. If you have the batteries, this is the one to get.
Works well, but it's a battery hog. Make sure you have the big flexvolts.
