The DEWALT DW130V 1/2-inch spade handle drill delivers 9 amps and 0–550 RPM for heavy-duty drilling and smooth mud mixing.

SKU : WOR-TOO-367
The DEWALT DW130V is a 1/2-inch spade handle corded drill designed for serious drilling and mixing duty. Its 9-amp motor delivers 0–550 RPM, a speed range that gives you the torque to turn large hole saws and the control to mix drywall mud without whipping air into the compound. The variable speed reversing switch helps you avoid splatter when pulling the paddle out of the bucket, and the soft grip handle keeps the drill comfortable in both hands.
Because it tops out at 550 RPM, the DW130V is ideal for mixing joint compound, thinset, and paint. A 5-gallon bucket of mud is well within its capability when you use a 1/2-inch shaft mixing paddle—commonly sized 6" to 8" diameter for standard buckets. For heavy concrete or full-bag thinset, you'll be better off with a dedicated low-speed mixer or cement mixer, since sustained high-torque loads can overheat a drill motor.
In rotary mode, the DW130V powers through wood with auger bits and through metal with twist drills, while the spade handle design gives you two-handed control for tough holes. The lightweight 7.5-lb body reduces shoulder strain during overhead work, and the all-metal chuck grips bits securely. Whether you're a drywall contractor or a serious DIYer, this drill earns its place in the shop.

For 5-gallon buckets of joint compound, choose a 1/2-inch shaft paddle with a 6" to 8" folded wing design. Insert the paddle fully before starting to avoid splashing, and mix at low speed until the compound is smooth. Keep the drill moving in a circular pattern to eliminate lumps.
The DW130V can handle lightweight repair mixes and small batches if used in short intervals, but it's not a substitute for a mortar mixer. Keep the load light, let the drill cool between batches, and use a paddle rated for mortar-style materials. Overloading causes the motor to heat up and reduces tool life.
Use a paddle with a 1/2-inch shaft and a 6" to 8" diameter for 5-gallon buckets of mud or paint.
It's best for drywall mud, joint compound, paint, and light repair mixes. For concrete or full-bag thinset, use a dedicated mixer.
Yes, it has a 0–550 RPM variable speed trigger with a reversing switch for forward and reverse operation.
A 1/2-inch all-metal chuck that accepts standard twist bits and mixing paddle shafts.
At 7.5 lb, it's lighter than many spade-handle drills of similar power, reducing fatigue on overhead work.

Great for mixing mud.
I bought this specifically for mixing thinset and drywall mud. It's got plenty of torque and the variable speed is easy to control. The spade handle gives me good leverage.
This drill is a beast. I use it for mixing mortar and heavy drilling. The 9-amp motor doesn't bog down, and the 0-550 RPM range is perfect for controlled mixing. The spade handle is comfortable and provides good control. It's corded, so I'm always plugged in, but that's fine for job site use. The only thing I wish is that it had a side handle for drilling, but the spade works. Overall, a solid buy.
Works as intended.
Used it to mix paint and it worked great. It's a bit heavy, but for mixing it's fine. Good value.
I've been doing drywall finishing for over 20 years, and this is my go-to mixer. It starts and stops smoothly, no splatter. The spade handle makes it easy to hold. It's well built and should last a long time. I also use it for drilling holes with paddle bits. Very satisfied.
