The keyless lever-action clamp is designed to release blades without tools, but sawdust and debris can sometimes make it feel stuck. If the DW317K blade clamp won’t open, unplug the saw, press the release lever fully, and use a small pick or compressed air to clear the clamp cavity. Make sure the blade shank is inserted all the way and the lever snaps back fully before use. With the clamp clean, blade changes take seconds.
Adjust the shoe from 0° to 45° for bevel cuts, and select the orbital setting that matches the material—lower settings for smoother cuts in metal and harder materials, higher settings for fast cuts in wood.
