The DEWALT DW317K 5.5-Amp Top-Handle Jig Saw is a corded workhorse for pros and advanced DIYers. Its 5.5-amp motor drives blades up to 3,100 strokes per minute, while the four-position orbital action lets you match the cutting speed to the material. The keyless, lever-action blade clamp makes blade changes quick and easy, and the all-metal gear case stands up to heavy use.
The keyless lever-action clamp is designed to release blades without tools, but sawdust and debris can sometimes make it feel stuck. If the DW317K blade clamp won’t open, unplug the saw, press the release lever fully, and use a small pick or compressed air to clear the clamp cavity. Make sure the blade shank is inserted all the way and the lever snaps back fully before use. With the clamp clean, blade changes take seconds.
Adjust the shoe from 0° to 45° for bevel cuts, and select the orbital setting that matches the material—lower settings for smoother cuts in metal and harder materials, higher settings for fast cuts in wood.

The DW317K is a direct-connected, top-handle jig saw that gives you a clear view of the cut line. With 3,100 SPM and four orbital modes, you can rip through plywood or slow down for a clean cut in aluminum.
Always unplug the saw before changing blades. Use the keyless lever and make sure the blade is fully seated before starting. A clean clamp prevents stripped blades and wasted time.
Unplug the saw, pull the keyless lever away from the body to open the clamp, and remove the blade. If it’s stuck, clear sawdust from the clamp area with compressed air or a small pick, then try again.
Yes, when fitted with a metal-cutting blade. Use a lower orbital setting and slower speed for best results in metal.
It is designed for T-shank jigsaw blades, which are the most common type available.
Yes, it has a 4-position orbital control so you can adjust the blade stroke for faster cuts or smoother finishes.
It’s corded, powered by a 5.5-amp motor, so you get consistent power without battery runtime limits.

Just works.
Lightweight and easy to control. I used it to cut curves in plywood and it was smooth. The blade changes are quick.
I've had this jigsaw for a month now. I've used it to cut trim, plywood, and even thin metal. The variable speed is great, and the orbital settings help with different materials. The top handle is comfortable, and the saw is very lightweight. The keyless blade change is a time saver. My only complaint is that the dust blower could be stronger, but it's not a big deal. Overall, I'm very pleased.
I'm 21 and still a student and this is my first jigsaw. It's really easy to use. I made some shelves and the cuts were clean. The cord is long enough. The only thing is it vibrates a bit, but that's normal.
I'm 42 and a homeowner and I use this for various projects. It's a solid tool. The trigger speed control is nice. I've used it to cut laminate countertops and it worked well. The keyless chuck is convenient. It's a good value.
I'm 64 and I've been woodworking for many years and this jigsaw is one of the best I've used. It's accurate and comfortable to hold. The dust blower keeps the line clear. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the cord could be longer. Other than that, it's a great saw.
It cuts okay, but the blade didn't stay straight on thicker wood. It's fine for thin plywood. Maybe I need a better blade. It's not bad for the price.
I've used this for art projects. It's precise and easy to maneuver. The orbital settings make a difference. The saw is light, so I can use it for hours without getting tired. Highly recommend.
It does what it should. The speed control is responsive. I just wish it had a built-in light. But for the price, it's fine.
I've used it a few times. It cuts well. The only issue is the base plate isn't as sturdy as I'd like. Overall, it's a good bargain.
