Categories : tools
SKU : WOR-TOO-1212
The DEWALT DXL3420-28PG is a 28-foot fiberglass extension ladder rated Type IAA for extra heavy-duty use. Its 375-lb duty rating and non-conductive fiberglass rails make it a dependable choice for electricians, utility crews, and residential contractors who work above ground.
The ladder features aluminum ProGrips with non-marring rubber caps that provide a comfortable handhold and help protect the surface you are leaning against. Wrap-around steel shoes grip the ground for solid footing, and independently riveted rungs add strength. The quick latch locks the extension section securely in place.
Fiberglass side rails are non-conductive, which adds an extra layer of safety when working near electrical lines or equipment. They also stand up to weather better than wood and hold their shape over years of jobsite use. A Type IAA rating means this ladder is designed to carry up to 375 pounds.
This 28-foot length gives you extra reach for higher gable ends, pole work, and utility maintenance, while still folding down for transport.

Aluminum ladders conduct electricity, which makes them risky around live service lines and panel work. Fiberglass is electrically non-conductive, so it is the usual choice for utility and electrical jobs. This DXL3420 ladder keeps that safety margin while retaining the strength needed for daily jobsite use.
For a 75.5° climbing angle, place the base one-quarter of the working length away from the wall. The steeper the angle, the more likely the ladder will kick out; flatter angles can overload the rungs. The rubber feet and steel shoes work best on firm, level ground.
Check for cracked rails, bent rungs, or a damaged latch before each use. Do not paint or hide fiberglass damage - replace the ladder if a rail is cracked or splintered. Keep the aluminum kickplate and rung shoes clean for maximum grip.
Type IAA is an extra-heavy-duty rating for 375 lb (170 kg), so it is designed for professional and utility work.
The fiberglass rails are non-conductive; the hardware and rungs include some metal components, so maintain a safe distance from live circuits and follow electrical safety rules.
Raise the fly section to the desired height and check that the quick latch engages with the rung. Always pull down to confirm it is locked before climbing.
The 28-ft fully extended length gives a working reach around 26–28 ft depending on the angle and setup; follow the ladder's angle guides and all safety instructions.
Solid and sturdy.
This ladder is a beast. I use it for gutter cleaning. The ProGrips are very secure.
I bought the 28-footer for reaching the upper eaves of my two-story house. The Type IAA rating gives me confidence. It is heavy, but the fiberglass is non-conductive which I appreciate. The ProGrips on the rungs really do grip your shoes. Extending it takes some effort but the pulleys work smoothly. I feel safe on this ladder. It's a good investment.
This ladder is tall! It takes two people to carry though. But it works great for my painting project.
I'm a contractor and this is my go-to ladder for most jobs. The 28-foot reach is ideal for residential work. The weight is manageable for one person, though it's not light. The ProGrip feet are excellent on even surfaces. I like that the rungs are anti-slip. I've used it daily for six months and it still feels solid.
Excellent ladder, worth it.
I've had cheaper ladders that wobbled. This one doesn't. It's well built.
So I'm a homeowner and I had to paint the gable ends. This ladder is serious overkill but also serious confidence. The ProGrips feel like sandpaper and I never slipped. It took me 20 minutes to set it up for the first time but now I'm quick. The only downer is carrying it to the back yard. Worth the money if you'll use it more than once.
