The RIDGID 30118 manual pipe threader ratchet and handle is the operating part of the RIDGID 12-R manual pipe threader. It provides the leverage and ratcheting action needed to turn threading dies, and its easy-to-access ratchet knob lets you switch between forward and reverse. The 3-foot handle gives plenty of leverage for tough threading jobs. This listing includes the ratchet and handle only; dies and die heads are sold separately.
Attach the proper die head to the ratchet, set the ratchet knob to forward, and place the die over your marked pipe. Pull the 3-foot handle in a steady arc, reversing the ratchet as needed. When the thread is complete, flip the knob to reverse and back the die off.
The die heads snap into the ratchet release. Squeeze the locking tab, pull the die head out, and insert the new head from either side until it clicks. Confirm the lock is engaged before threading.

The 30118 ratchet handle is the control center for the manual 12-R pipe threader. With the optional die heads, it can handle a variety of pipe sizes. Position the ratchet over the pipe, set the knob, and make smooth, complete rotations for cleaner threads.
Threading produces fine metal chips that can wear down ratchet parts. After each session, wipe the head with a cloth and blow out chips. A drop of oil on the ratchet pawls keeps the action smooth. If the ratchet slips, inspect the pawl spring before continuing.

Die heads snap into the ratchet from either side and lock in place. Release the lock, swap the die head, and confirm it clicks securely before threading.
Attach the appropriate die head, set the ratchet knob to forward or reverse, and pull the 3-foot handle to thread or back off. The ratchet lets you reposition the handle without losing drive.
Keep it clean and lubricated. If it skips or slips, contact RIDGID for service parts or professional repair; do not force a worn ratchet.
