The DEWALT 60V MAX DCH481B combination hammer delivers 6.1 J of impact energy for fast drilling and chipping, with E-Clutch and SHOCKS vibration control.

The DEWALT 60V MAX DCH481B Brushless SDS MAX Combination Hammer is built for high-production concrete drilling, chipping, and breaking tasks. Its brushless motor and German-engineered mechanism generate 6.1 J of impact energy, making it a reliable partner for rebar dowel work, dry coring up to 3 inches, and general studwall or floor chipping.
This tool-only kit lets you use your existing DEWALT FLEXVOLT 60V MAX batteries, keeping your setup flexible and cost-efficient. The anti-rotation E-Clutch shuts down the hammer in a bind-up situation, reducing torque reaction and helping you maintain control. Constant speed electronics keep the motor rpm steady under load, so you don’t lose drilling pace in tough concrete.
With 6.1 J of impact energy, the DCH481B handles the hardest aggregate concrete without bogging down. The German-engineered mechanism provides a solid, efficient stroke for both rotary drilling and chipping. It accepts SDS-Max bits up to 1-9/16 in. and can dry-core up to 3 in. in reinforced concrete.
If you regularly drill concrete anchors, rebar dowels, or core holes, or if you need to chip out small sections of concrete, this 60V MAX combination hammer fits the bill. It is especially useful for horizontal drilling where a lighter, well-balanced tool makes a difference. Keep in mind it is tool only—select a DEWALT FLEXVOLT 60V MAX battery and charger for operation.
Powerful brushless motor – delivers 6.1 J of impact energy for tough concrete.
Anti-Rotation E-Clutch – shuts the tool down in bind-up situations for better control.
SHOCKS Active Vibration Control – reduces handle vibration for longer workdays.
Lightweight design – suited for horizontal drilling, rebar dowels, and dry coring up to 3 in.
Tag Ready – works with DEWALT Tool Connect tag for easy fleet tracking (tag sold separately).

A combination hammer can drill, chip, and sometimes break, but not all hammers are created equal. The SDS MAX system is built for the high impact forces of larger diameter bits and chisels, making it the choice for structural concrete work.
A 20V MAX hammer drill is fine for occasional masonry up to 1/2 inch. For production drilling, rebar dowels, and cores up to 3 inches, the DCH481B's 60V MAX motor and 6.1 J impact energy are in another class.
DEWALT FLEXVOLT batteries automatically change voltage when you switch between 60V MAX and 20V MAX tools. This means you can use the same battery across your entire DeWalt lineup when you move between tools.
When dry coring with a combination hammer, start at an angle or use a starter bit to prevent wandering. Keep consistent pressure and let the bit do the cutting. Use the E-Clutch and SHOCKS system to reduce fatigue during long sessions.
It requires a DEWALT FLEXVOLT 60V MAX battery (DCB606 or similar, sold separately). It will not run on standard 20V MAX batteries.
Yes, it can be used for light chipping in lower walls and floors. For heavy chipping, consider a dedicated breaker.
SDS Max is a heavier-duty chuck system with larger bits and higher impact energy. This tool handles 1-9/16 in. concrete bits and dry coring up to 3 in.
It is designed to shut down when the bit binds, reducing torque reaction and helping protect you and the tool.

This thing drives 1-1/2 inch bits through concrete like it's butter. The SHOCKS vibration control really saves your arms. Used it all day and no numbness. The E-Clutch is a lifesaver if the bit grabs.
I've been in masonry for 30 years. This hammer is as good as my corded Hilti, without the cord. The battery lasts for a surprising number of holes.
It's a beast.
I rented a chipping hammer before, but this does the job better. The chisel mode is easy to switch. It's heavy, but you'll appreciate the power.
I had my doubts about a battery-powered hammer, but this has replaced my corded unit for most tasks. It drills 3/4 holes in concrete without stalling. The vibration dampening is remarkable. It's expensive, but if you use it daily, it pays for itself.
