The DEWALT DCD780C2 20V MAX compact drill/driver kit is the answer when you need a dependable daily-driver drill that doesn't weigh you down. Its high-speed transmission gives you two speed ranges (0-600 and 0-2,000 RPM), and the heavy-duty 1/2-inch ratcheting chuck grips bits securely for drilling and driving in confined spots.
The compact, lightweight body lets you work in joist bays, cabinets, and between studs where larger drills won't fit. The ergonomic handle keeps control comfortable through long jobs, while the two-speed gearbox covers both high-torque driving and fast-drilling needs.
Unlike tool-only buys, this kit gets you working immediately: it includes two DEWALT 20V MAX 1.5Ah batteries, a charger, and a kit bag. With a second battery, you're never dead in the water waiting for a recharge.
If your DCD780's chuck isn't holding a bit, clean the chuck jaws and make sure the bit shank is debris-free. Tighten the collar firmly—an audible click means the ratcheting mechanism has engaged. Avoid using worn round-shank bits that can slip under load. If the chuck itself is worn, contact Workbench World for service or replacement parts.
2-speed transmission (0-600 / 0-2,000 RPM): match speed to the task, from driving screws to drilling wood and metal.
1/2-inch ratcheting chuck: holds bits firmly without slipping.
Compact, lightweight body: reaches tight spots and reduces arm fatigue.
Kit includes two 20V MAX 1.5Ah batteries plus charger and bag: ready to work out of the box.

The DCD780C2 is a favorite for electricians and inside trim work because it fits where other drills can't. A short nose and light weight let you work in corner cabinets, behind toilets, and between rafters without a lot of body contortion.
That 1/2-inch chuck is built for grip. To get the best hold, pull the bit out about 1/3 inch before tightening, then spin the collar forward until the ratchet clicks. The click tells you the jaws are engaged. If you're using hex-shaft driver bits, use a quality bit holder to reduce side load on the jaws.
The drill runs on any DEWALT 20V MAX battery. You can start with the included 1.5Ah packs for light work, then pop in a 4Ah pack when you're driving deck screws all afternoon.
Clean the chuck jaws and the bit shank, then tighten the collar until you hear the ratchet click. If the bit still slips, the jaws may be worn—contact support for replacement chuck service.
It includes two 20V MAX 1.5Ah batteries, a charger, the drill, and a kit bag.
The transmission provides two speeds: 0-600 RPM for driving and 0-2,000 RPM for drilling.
Yes, the drill is compatible with all DEWALT 20V MAX batteries, so you can upgrade for longer runtime.

Perfect little drill.
Lots of power for a compact drill. The chuck grips tight.
I bought this as a backup to my bigger XR model. It's noticeably lighter and fits into tight spaces above cabinets. Surprisingly, it drives 3-inch screws with ease. The 1.5Ah batteries die quickly under heavy use, so you'll want spares. But for light duty and around the house, it's great.
This is my first real drill and I love it. It feels solid and the clutch is easy to adjust. I've put together furniture and hung shelves, no issues. The batteries charge fast. My only complaint is no case, but whatever. Highly recommend for beginners.
Works like it should. Nothing special.
I've used drills since the days of cords, so I was skeptical about a compact 20V. This unit has the torque to do almost anything I need. It's comfortable in the hand and the trigger is smooth. The two batteries are handy so one is always charged. My old hands appreciate the light weight.
Good drill, bad batteries.
Came in handy for hanging curtains. Decent torque.
The ratcheting chuck is a nice touch. Never slipped once.
I'm a remodeler and I use this for cabinet installs. It's short enough to fit in a 12-inch cabinet and still has enough power to sink a screw. The batteries are small but okay for quick work. I dock one charge at a time. If you're looking for a durable compact drill, this is it.
