The DEWALT DCF520B is a 20V MAX XR brushless sealed head ratchet that delivers the highest no-load speed in the 20V MAX ratchet line—up to 450 RPM—with up to 50 ft-lbs of max torque. It's built for automotive mechanics, equipment service, and DIYers who need a compact fastening tool that fits into tight engine bays and confined assemblies.
The brushless motor improves runtime and durability, while the sealed head keeps dust and debris out of the gearbox. The interchangeable anvil design lets you switch between 3/8 in. square drive, 1/4 in. square drive, and 1/4 in. low-profile hex anvils, so one tool covers a wide range of sockets and bits.
Swapping anvils takes seconds: remove the battery, release the retaining mechanism (per the manual), pull the current anvil out, and press the new one in until it locks. Always check that the anvil is fully seated before use. This makes the DCF520B a versatile alternative to carrying multiple dedicated ratchets.
The sealed head reduces the overall head height and gives you easy access to the forward/reverse switch in cramped areas. The integrated LED illuminates your work surface, and the trigger lock prevents accidental activation when reaching into tight spots.
This ratchet is sold as tool only, so you can combine it with the DEWALT 20V MAX batteries you already own. It's compatible with all 20V MAX battery packs, including compact and XR. If you're already in the DEWALT ecosystem, this is a low-cost way to add a specialized tool.

1. Power down: Remove the battery before any swap. 2. Release: Press the retaining collar and pull the old anvil free. 3. Lock in: Insert the new anvil and turn slightly until it clicks. The whole process takes under 30 seconds.
Brushless motors generate less heat and run longer per charge. In a compact ratchet, that means more fasteners driven before you swap batteries, plus more consistent power as the pack drains.
Unlike an open-head ratchet, the sealed head keeps debris out of the gearcase and lets you work in tight spaces without the head catching on adjacent components. It also makes the direction switch easier to reach.
If you already own DEWALT 20V MAX tools, this tool-only ratchet adds serious capability at a fraction of the cost of a new kit. Use the same batteries and charger you already have on the job.
Remove the battery, release the retaining collar or clip (per the manual), slide out the current anvil, and press the new one in until it locks. Always verify the anvil is fully seated before use.
It's a 20V MAX tool and works with all DEWALT 20V MAX batteries, including compact and XR packs. Battery and charger are not included.
Yes, the 1/4 in. low-profile hex anvil accepts standard 1/4 in. hex bits, making it easy to drive fasteners or work in tight spots.
It's designed for bolts and fasteners in tight spaces; the 50 ft-lbs max torque is great for small to medium fasteners, but for high-torque lug nuts use an impact wrench.
The sealed head protects the internal gearbox from dust and debris, and allows easier access to the forward/reverse switch in tight spaces.
Works great in tight spots.
Bought this for my husband, he loves it. It's replaced his air ratchet for most jobs.
I've been turning wrenches for 15 years, and this is my go-to ratchet now. The brushless motor gives it plenty of speed, and the sealed head keeps grease out when you're under a car. I use the 3/8 anvil most days, and the swap to 1/4 takes seconds. Torque is impressive for its size—it snapped off bolts that my air ratchet struggled with. It's a bit pricey but worth it if you work on vehicles daily.
This thing rocks! Love it.
This ratchet is perfect for electrical work. The 1/4 anvil fits into tight panels, and it drives screws faster than my drill.
As a mechanic, I've gone through many ratchets because of debris. The sealed head design keeps the guts clean, and the power is consistent. It's not the cheapest, but the time saved on maintenance makes it worth every penny. I also like the variable speed trigger—it gives me control for delicate jobs. Highly recommended for anyone who works in dirty conditions.
Bit heavy for my small hands. Works well though.
I've been in construction for over 40 years, and I've seen tools come and go. This ratchet is built like they used to build them. The torque is strong, the sealed head means no grease all over my knuckles. It's a little large for some spots, but that's the nature of a 1/4 and 3/8 combo. I expect it to last a long time. If you're tired of cheap ratchets, this is the one.
It works fine, but I think it's overpriced for what it is. My old manual ratchet still does the job, just slower.
