Because the DCS334B is a bare tool, it draws power from the entire DEWALT 20V MAX battery platform. From compact 1.5Ah packs to high-capacity 6.0Ah XR batteries, it runs on all of them. For longer cutting sessions or thick hardwood, choose a higher-capacity pack such as the DCB205 or DCB206. All DEWALT 20V MAX chargers are compatible.
Selecting the right T-shank blade makes a significant difference in cut quality. For clean wood cuts, use a high-carbon steel blade with 6-8 TPI. For metal, a bi-metal blade with 14-24 TPI is ideal. Position 0 gives a straight up-and-down motion for clean cuts in hardwoods and metals. Position 1 provides a slight orbital action for smoother, faster cuts in softwood. Positions 2 and 3 add more aggressive orbital action, ideal for rough cutting in thick lumber or plastic. Experiment to find the best setting for your project.
A 4Ah XR battery is a good starting point, providing about 30 minutes of mixed cutting. For extended production work, a 6Ah pack nearly doubles that runtime. Since the DCS334B is brushless, you'll get more efficient use of every charge than with a brushed jig saw.
