Over time, you may need to replace the trimmer head. The DCST970X1 uses a simple quick-release system: remove the battery, press the two tabs on the head, and pull the old head straight off. Align the new head and snap it in place. No tools required.
When the line runs low, you can load fresh line quickly. The DEWALT 60V trimmer uses a bump-feed head that advances line with a tap on the ground. To refill, remove the spool, cut an 8-foot piece of .080-inch line, feed it through the eyelet, and wind it in the direction marked on the spool. Replace the spool and trim the line to a few inches—you're ready to work.
