DEWALT DW5469 SDS+ rock carbide hammer bit with 1-1/8 in. tip drills deep, clean holes in concrete; tapered core resists breakage.
Categories : tools
SKU : WOR-TOO-427
The DEWALT DW5469 SDS+ hammer bit is engineered for demanding concrete and masonry drilling. With a rock carbide tip and a strong tapered core, it delivers long life and reliable performance even in deep holes. Whether you're installing anchors, running conduit, or drilling into foundations, this bit is built to handle the job.
This 1-1/8-inch diameter, 18-inch overall length bit is ideal for heavy-duty anchor and dowel drilling. Its two-cutter design and specialized flute geometry keep the hole clean and the bit moving forward, reducing downtime on the jobsite.
Two sharp carbide cutting edges produce clean, round holes that are essential for secure anchor installation. The rock-grade carbide resists wear and maintains its edge longer than standard steel bits.
The tapered core increases strength where the bit is most likely to bend or break, especially when drilling deep holes. This design helps prevent flute breakage and reduces downtime.
The variable helix flute pattern efficiently moves concrete dust and debris out of the contact zone. This keeps the bit cutting at optimal speed and prevents it from binding in the hole.
Laser-etched wear marks allow you to gauge when the carbide tip is regrindable. As long as the wear mark is still visible, DEWALT will replace the bit if it breaks, giving you confidence on the job.
To extend the life of your DW5469, you can resharpen the carbide tip using a diamond grinding wheel. Hold the bit at the original angle and lightly pass the tip across the wheel, keeping the two cutting edges symmetrical. Avoid overheating the carbide, which can cause it to crack. Once the wear mark is gone, replacement is recommended.
Rock carbide tips with two cutting edges deliver clean, round holes in concrete and masonry.
Strong tapered core resists flute breakage, especially in deep hole drilling.
Two-stage variable helix flute quickly removes debris for faster drilling.
Wear mark indicator shows when the bit is at its regrind limit.
No Break Guarantee: if the bit fails while the wear mark is visible, DEWALT replaces it.

Use a diamond cup wheel or diamond file to touch up the carbide edges. Keep the angle the same as the factory ground (approximately 30°). Don't let the bit get hot enough to turn blue; dip it in water between passes.
If you hit rebar, let the hammer action work and don't force the bit. Change to a metal bit if you need to go through the rebar cleanly, then switch back to the SDS+ bit.
Yes, the carbide tip can be resharpened with a diamond grinding wheel. Be sure to maintain the original cutting edge geometry, and stop once the wear mark disappears.
The DW5469 is designed for concrete and masonry; while it can occasionally punch through rebar, doing so repeatedly will wear the carbide more quickly. Use a metal bit when you know rebar is present.
It has an SDS+ shank, which fits all standard SDS+ hammer drills.

Drills concrete fast.
This bit goes through rebar like it's nothing. I've done over 50 holes and it's still sharp.
I bought this for drilling into our basement wall to hang shelves. My regular bits wouldn't make a dent. This one sliced through in seconds. I was surprised how clean the holes were. The length is just right for our thick walls. I'm glad I chose this instead of a longer one.
Best SDS bit I've used. Holds up on hard concrete.
Works great, a bit pricey.
I need to drill through reinforced concrete for outdoor lights. This bit handles it without slowing down. The carbide tip stays put. The spiral clears dust efficiently. It hasn't chipped after a dozen holes. I'll buy another when this one wears out.
Good bit for masonry. It wobbles a little in my hammer drill but does the job.
Fast and clean. Exactly what I needed for anchor bolts.
