The RIDGID 16728 Compact Remote Transmitter is a 512 Hz battery sonde designed for use with RIDGID NaviTrack locators and other compatible receivers. It installs at the end of a fiberglass push cable, duct rod, or sewer cable, letting you pinpoint the location of a line or blockage without excavation. The compact design fits inside small-diameter pipes, and the strong 512 Hz signal is detectable through cast iron and other materials.
With a typical maximum detection range of 25 feet in air and 15 feet in cast iron, this sonde gives you the confidence to trace underground utilities accurately. It operates for up to 4 hours on a single AAA alkaline battery, minimizing interruptions during your job.
To turn the transmitter on, tighten the battery cover clockwise until it is snug; this connects the battery and starts the 512 Hz transmission. The flashing LED confirms it's active. To turn it off, loosen the cover slightly. To replace the battery, remove the battery cover, swap in a fresh AAA alkaline battery, and reinstall the cover. Always check the LED after a battery change to ensure the sonde is transmitting.

The RIDGID 16728 transmits a clear 512 Hz signal that helps you trace sewer lines, water lines, conduits, and duct work from above ground. Save time and avoid digging by pinpointing the exact spot before excavation.
No tools are required to swap the AAA battery. The finger-friendly cover twists off easily, and the flashing LED gives you immediate confirmation that the sonde is transmitting.
The compact, water-resistant housing is designed to survive the twists and impacts of cable pushing. It fits through tight bends and small pipe openings, so you can use it on a wide range of inspection and location jobs.
Twist the battery cover counterclockwise and pull it off. Remove the old AAA battery, insert a fresh one, and reinstall the cover by twisting clockwise until snug. The LED should flash to confirm operation.
Tighten the battery cover clockwise until it connects the battery. The LED will begin flashing, indicating the transmitter is active. Loosen the cover slightly to turn it off.
