The RIDGID SeekTech ST-510 (model 21903) is a 10-watt compact line transmitter built for utility locating pros who need a clear signal on buried metallic pipes and cables. As part of the SeekTech series, this transmitter pairs with SeekTech locator receivers to help you trace electrical conduits, water lines, and other metallic utilities before you dig.
A line transmitter is only as useful as its connection options. The ST-510 lets you choose direct connection, induction using the optional SeekTech 20973 clamp, or surface induction by aligning the transmitter’s built-in antenna with the buried line. That flexibility means you can maintain a trace on cable, conduit, or pipe whether you have bare ends exposed or only a section of line to work with.
Start with direct connection whenever you have exposed metallic line: attach the heavy-duty clamps to the pipe or cable, place the ground spike in the soil, and select the frequency that matches your locator. If the line is not exposed, use the optional inductive clamp to couple the signal, or set the transmitter on the surface and align the marks on the case with the buried path. The display and audible tones help you confirm the signal is clean before you begin walking the line.
The transmitter runs on an internal rechargeable battery. If the display dims or the transmitter will not hold a charge, the battery likely needs replacement. Consult the ST-510 manual for the correct battery pack and access steps, and keep the charging contacts clean. Between jobs, store the unit in its case at moderate temperature to preserve battery life.
10W output drives a strong trace signal on deep and long metallic utility runs.
Direct, induction clamp, and surface induction modes adapt to job-site access.
25 ft heavy-duty lead with clamps and ground spike speeds setup in the field.
LCD, LED, and audio feedback confirm connection quality and impedance at a glance.
Four frequencies help pair with your locator for cleaner traces in noisy conditions.

The ST-510 is built for use with RIDGID SeekTech receivers. Match the frequency on the transmitter and receiver, and the locator can show signal strength and direction. That makes it easier to trace underground lines from a safe distance rather than guessing from excavation marks.
10 watts gives you enough output to energize long or deeply buried lines. The four selectable frequencies let you step down in congested areas or step up in high-interference environments. For everyday utility locating, having a transmitter that can adapt to the job is worth more than a one-note unit.
The ST-510 uses an internal rechargeable battery. Consult the manual for the correct replacement battery pack and access steps; keep the contacts clean and charge fully before each use.
A manual is included with the transmitter. You can also request support from Workbench World with your order number if you need a replacement copy.
It can transmit on 1, 8, 33, and 262 kHz, letting you choose the best frequency for the line type and ambient interference.
Use direct connection when you have exposed metallic line, use the optional SeekTech Inductive Signal Clamp for induction, or place the unit on the surface aligned with the buried line for surface induction.
It is designed for the RIDGID SeekTech locator family; for best performance, pair it with a SeekTech receiver that supports the same frequencies.
Works as expected.
Cool little tool.
Good for the price.
I use this for locating underground lines. It connects to pipes easily. The display is clear.
This thing is pretty straightforward. Hook it up and follow the signal. Found my buried gas line.
The ST-510 is a workhorse. We do directional drilling, and this transmitter helps us trace the bore. The battery life is decent. The induction mode is useful for non-conductive pipes. The unit feels rugged. The only downside is the price.
I've had other line transmitters, but this one is simpler. The controls are intuitive. It does the job.
I've been in the utility locating business for 30 years. This transmitter is reliable. The direct connect is straightforward. I like that it comes with a hard case. The signal strength is consistent. It's a quality piece of equipment.
I'm a junior tech and this made my life so much easier. Connect the leads, select the mode, and get a solid signal. It's very user-friendly. The screen is easy to read in sunlight. We use it every day. My boss says it's the best investment we've made.
Great so far.
I had a problem with a suspected leak. This helped me trace the line. It saved me a lot of digging.
We needed to locate an old septic line on our property. The transmitter worked on metal pipes easily. The instructions were clear. It took some practice, but we found the line. The unit is heavy but durable. I'm glad we bought it.
As an electrician, I've used this to locate buried cables. The 10 watts just enough for most jobs. It works well with the receiver. The clips are strong. The battery compartment is a bit tight, but okay. Overall, a solid tool.
This is not a toy, but it's not hard to use. The manual helps. I successfully traced a dog fence.
